From the Welcome to the Planetary Calendar Page Plus Planning for the Year Ahead.
From its start in 1949, this was intended as a teaching tool. Over the years, advanced information and features were added until it has become America's most sophisticated Astrological Calendar. At the same time other features were added so that students could easily use this information to benefit their lives. That trend continues this year as less helpful sections were removed in favor of expanded and clearer instructions. After seventy-three editions the Planetary Calendar continues to be a living document and we thank you for being part of this community.

New Features: We expanded the annotated Forecasts and included personalization for the Signs. The Day Blocks include the Degrees of the Full and New Moons. The instructions have been improved. There are quick reference pages at the back for using the Aspects daily for timing activities. The Ingress and Lunation Charts are only found in the Day Planner and Electronic Calendar. To receive monthly forecast reminders email and watch our videos at www.PlanetaryCalendar.com.

Planning for the Year Ahead: First, avoid planning important events during the Eclipse periods. They can be tumultuous and potentially life changing if you have major Planets or Angles near those Degrees. There is a New Moon Eclipse at 29 Degrees Aries on April 19th followed by the Full Moon Eclipse at 14 Degrees Taurus/Scorpio on May 5th, which overlaps a Mercury in Taurus Retrograde. Next, “The Great American New Moon Eclipse” at 21 Degrees Libra on Oct. 14th is followed by the Full Moon Eclipse at 5 Degrees Scorpio/Taurus on Oct. 28th. We suggest you watch our forecast video around that time.
Next, be aware of the Mercury Retrogrades since those times tend to be fraught with communication issues, so we suggest not making important purchases then if possible. The year begins and ends with Mercury Retrograde, which mostly happen in Earth Signs this year. Refer to page 36 for the Retrograde and Eclipse dates.

Here is how the year will likely unfold. While January starts slowly, after the Lunar New Year the planets are Direct so progress in the outer world will come more easily. When we combine that with a fast Jupiter and an accelerating Mars, expect the pace to pick up through May. But then through the Spring, Saturn enters Pisces, Pluto enters Aquarius and Jupiter joins Uranus in Taurus, so the year’s theme will change as alliances shift. Read the rest on the Day Planner!

This November brings us the power and beauty of a total lunar eclipse. Lunar eclipses are super-charged full Moons that occur in conjunction with a solar eclipse. This eclipse, which takes place on November 8, 2022, is connected to the magic of the recent Scorpio solar eclipse that occurred on October 25, 2022. It is part of a set of seven eclipses taking place on the Taurus and Scorpio axis from November 2021 to October 2023.

You may feel that things you discovered during the previous eclipse season that took place in May of this year are coming up once again for closure, completion, and integration.

What eclipses mean in astrology

Eclipses signify significant periods of change and transformation. These shifts do not take place all at once, though. They may start or continue on an eclipse, but their work continues throughout the period when eclipses are occurring in the same set of signs. Meaning, what occurs during and around this eclipse will continue in the spring, when we have another eclipse season on the Taurus and Scorpio axis.

While a solar eclipse opens the portal for new beginnings and change, a lunar eclipse reveals energies that help us complete a journey or shift our course in some way. Lunar eclipses are also much more emotionally charged compared to a solar eclipse, as they are more feminine in nature and affect the emotional body to a greater degree. A total lunar eclipse, like the one we have this November, affects us even more greatly, as it represents a full conjunction between the Moon, the Sun, and the lunar nodes.

A lunar eclipse is an opportunity to create significant change in your life. This change may come about abruptly, as lunar eclipses tend to bring information to you from out of the blue. You may find yourself feeling surprised or even caught off guard at some of the things you learn about others and yourself over a lunar eclipse. Not all of this information is negative. Some of it is positive and may even bring you inspiration, along with encouragement to shift your life. Of course, some of the information you experience will initially feel negative and shocking. After some time it will bring positive, and needed, changes in your life.

You must be willing to take the time to process any information coming your way and hold space for it. Lunar eclipses, like full Moons, are revealing. They reveal the truth in an often dramatic way and let you learn things that change your life course. It’s important to accept what is revealed on a lunar eclipse. You cannot fight this knowledge. You can only take it in and ask yourself what the highest manifestation is that you can create with this energy.

Even if you are brought unwanted news or unexpected events, know that these are the Universe’s way of giving you a life detour that will ultimately be the best course of action for your evolution. Open yourself up to the information available on an eclipse and trust that this is landing in your life at the exact moment you need it.

It’s also important to understand that a lunar eclipse occurs to move you forward. It is an energetic push from the cosmos to take you out of stagnant energies and old patterns. Sometimes this forward motion can feel disruptive to your nervous system, and you may even resist it initially. There is no moving backward on the lunar eclipse, there is only a path forward. If you attempt to cling to energies that no longer serve your evolution, you will only be met with frustration and misalignment.

If the lunar eclipse reveals something in your life that needs to be released, it’s best to find the least dramatic way to move on. The lunar eclipse and the month that follows it are an opportunity to detach from energies, emotions, and even people who do not serve your evolution. These changes can feel scary and uncomfortable, but once you cross the bridge to another way of being, you will feel as if you’ve broken through a wall built between you and your highest visions. Eclipses are the time to break through the barriers, in whatever form they take, that prevent you from reaching your potential.

The emotional nature of a lunar eclipse often can cause an emotional breakdown as you break through these energies. Hold space for yourself and give yourself time to process the information revealed on the eclipse. Do not rush into any decisions at this time, but rather let the energy settle and then make whatever moves are needed to propel you forward. Enjoy this eclipse and know that it is a special time in the year and in your life for you to make the changes needed to reach your energy and potential. Open yourself up to the information and energy available to you and know that the Universe is always here to support you and your journey. Trust your path and trust the path of this eclipse.

Lunar eclipse and full Moon in Taurus

Total lunar eclipses can feel energetically and emotionally intense. We always take notice of these special Moons and can either choose to struggle with energy or harness it to shift our lives. Fortunately, a lunar eclipse in Taurus feels more peaceful to the nervous system than some other energies. It is a quiet respite in the sea of emotions Scorpio season brings.

This eclipse carries great power but will feel less shocking than the lunar eclipse that occurred last May. Taurus helps ground this immense energy and provides the perfect foundation to integrate and process the revelations this eclipse will bring. Taurus is the sign of stillness. It reminds us to connect with Mother Earth and feel held, supported, and abundant. It helps restore our inner peace when the world has thrown us a curveball, and it helps us feel our inner resiliance in the face of any storm.

Taurus is the energy to look to when life feels overwhelming, overstimulating, or just too much. It helps you connect to subtle energies of nature, like the Sun on your face, the breeze on your cheek, and the ground under your feet to feel your center. As the eclipse energy culminates in Taurus, feel it soften you. Feel it hold you and become a container for the immense emotions stirred by Scorpio and eclipse season.

Your invitation

Remember that this eclipse completes the energies put in motion during the solar eclipse in Taurus last April. Let it be a soft landing pad for your emotional journey that occurred in the previous six months. You may have experienced great upheaval in your life, or you may be feeling changes starting to stir. The eclipse is a time to center yourself and feel your inner stillness and strength.

This lunar eclipse is also a healing time. We’ve had the lunar nodes on the Taurus and Scorpio axis for this entire year. In these positions, they bring us the opportunity to see our wounds, trauma, and resulting pain clearly and honestly. The South Node in Scorpio sheds light on how we may even be repeatedly retraumatizing ourselves with the same situations. It’s also illuminating the underbelly of society, bringing to light things we’d rather leave in the dark. There is no keeping things hidden, though, with the South Node in Scorpio. It all comes to light for us, as a collective, to heal.

With the North Node in Taurus, we are shown a pathway forward, away from the trauma revealed by Scorpio. This eclipse is an opportunity to shift away from pain and upheaval. It’s a chance to focus on the simplicity of life and use it to heal.

Taurus teaches us to uncomplicate our lives. Instead of allowing drama and complex emotions to rule our consciousness, Taurus compels us to take life one step at a time. It is a gentle reminder to find the simple answers to life’s most complex topics. Instead of overthinking or overanalyzing, Taurus encourages us to follow our instinct and not question it. If we are unhappy in a relationship, it’s time to leave. If we want to travel, it’s time to book it. If we feel overwhelmed, it’s time to slow down. No discussion about any of it—just straightforward answers devoid of drama.

Feel this simplicity take over this eclipse and let it bring you some peace among any chaos in your life. There are, of course, some life decisions that require more thought and attention. Taurus encourages us to take the simplest approach even with those. If you have a big decision on your mind this eclipse, go somewhere to clear your head and your heart. Sit under a tree, stare at the ocean, or go for a hike. If you live in an urban area, get away from the stimuli of artificial lights and sounds. Sit under the stars as the light of the Moon brings you stillness. In this stillness, find the answers you seek. Then trust that the simplest solution is the correct one.

Like all eclipses, it will bring some intense energy and emotions. Seek to find peace and energetic calmness. Challenge yourself to connect with your energy, ground your body, and stay away from any drama. Let your heart heal, and if a path speaks to you, follow it. Not all transformation needs to be dramatic and full of complicated emotions. This eclipse is your chance to transform and shift old patterns into new ones that allow you to heal. It’s your chance to simply let go. Not because some significant event has occurred, someone is forcing you, or you feel you have no choice. It’s an opportunity to release energies that no longer serve you without struggle or effort. Let go the way a petal drops from a flower— because it’s time. Feel the simplicity of this eclipse and let it shift your life away from chaos and into harmony as you come home to yourself.
