For more than 20 years, the IS has provided a dynamic bond between driver and machine for guests across the world. With the launch of the all-new IS in 2021, Lexus expanded on that legacy by sharpening the driving performance fundamentals through the introduction of Lexus Driving Signature, a key pillar for the Lexus brand. Then, in 2022, the all-new IS 500 F SPORT Performance brought an undeniable presence to the lineup with its naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V8 generating 472 hp and 395 lb.-ft. of torque.

The 2023 IS will build on that success by offering new standard features and additional luxury options.

In an otherwise shrinking market of compact sports sedans, Lexus has managed to catch, and hold, the attention of its potential customers. With people moving towards other segments, the compact sports sedan market has taken a hit. This has resulted in some famous carmakers struggling to survive in a very competitive environment.

The Lexus IS 350 has been a success for the Japanese carmaker from the time it was dropped in the American market. Sometime last year, it was also the second-fastest selling car in the entire country. With the announcement of the new 2023 IS 350 F Sport, we are now certain that Lexus has not lost interest in the segment that is striving to thrive.

Why We Can’t Wait For The Electric Lexus LFA Successor

Riding The Legacy Of The IS 350

Change is the only constant in life. This is a quote that the auto industry across the globe swears by. No one understands the need for change more than the guys who work for months and years just trying to provide something new to the customer. Like most things, every good thing comes to an end unless worked upon. The guys at Lexus know this very well which is why the 2023 Lexus IS 350 F Sport gets new and improved aesthetics and more fun in a new package.

The 2023 Lexus IS 350 F Sport is powered by a 3.5-liter V6 delivering 311 hp and 280 lb-ft of torque. You get to choose between an RWD version and an AWD version depending on how much tail you want out on each corner. The RWD variant uses an 8-speed automatic transmission and the AWD gets a 6-speed automatic. All the numbers mentioned above mean that the RWD IS 350 F Sport does 0-60 mph in 5.6 seconds, and the AWD takes 0.1 seconds more than the RWD.

How Sporty Is The New IS 350 F Sport?

The 2023 Lexus IS 350 F Sport gets a new handling package in form of an adaptive variable suspension, Torsen limited-slip rear differential for the RWD versions, and drive mode select with Sport S/S+ modes along with the usual custom modes. You can also add 19-inch matte black BBS forged alloy rims for further customization if you like to go a bit extreme.

The 2023 Lexus IS 350 will be offered in a new F Sport Design variant which will be available in both RWD and AWD versions. Add those 19-inch F Sport alloy wheels to the existing bumpers, grille, and rear lip spoiler of the IS 350 F Sport and ensure that no one takes it to be just another IS 350 F Sport.

The Good-Looking Looks Better Now

Via: Lexus

Not that the current Lexus IS 350 F Sport looks any less sinister already, the 2023 version will look even better than the existing version. The 2023 Lexus IS 350 F Sport will offer an exclusive special appearance package which includes cosmetic changes like a unique exterior combination featuring incognito paint which will be enhanced by an Obsidian black hood and roof. This combination will be made to look even sicker with black NuLuxe interior. As if all this was not enough, the package will also offer 19-inch Enkei alloy wheels with a dark finish.

The legacy of the ‘Intelligent Sport’

Via: Lexus

Launched for the first time back in 1998, the IS range stayed limited to Toyota cars for a while as the Japanese car manufacturer decided to use the Lexus brand only for the export markets. The arrival of the Lexus IS 200 in the international market was aimed at creating a ruckus among the giants like BMW, Mercedes, Audi etc.

As expected, it was a driver’s wet dream. The 2.0-liter inline-six engine delivered more than enough to get the adrenaline pumping. The precise handling, the control around the corners, and a comfortable ride quality made it impossible to avoid in a very competitive segment. The Lexus IS have been easy to run and the reliability could not be questioned even by the almighty himself. Come 2001 and the world got a new 3-liter version in the form of the IS 300. The power shot from 158 to 220 hp which delivered a top speed of 144 mph. This was then followed by the IS 300 SportCross – a sports wagon which offered the same fun with some more lbs and utility.

The second generation of the Lexus IS was a rather radical shift from the Japanese. The new generation looked aggressive without compromising on the things it was known for. V6 engines were introduced in order to lure those who wanted their cars to not just perform but also growl when they chased their prey.

Lexus has decided to keep the 2023 IS 350 F Sport an exclusive by making only 480 units that will be produced and will go on sale towards the end of the year. The price of the IS 350 F Sport Design has been priced at $43,660, the IS 350 F Sport will be available for $44,910, the IS 350 F Sport Design AWD will cost you $45,660, and the IS 350 F Sport AWD will attract a price tag of $46,910.
