  1. Teacher shows model of the sun
  1. Asks the pupils to describe the model. Encourages pupils to talk about the model.

Suggested words:

  • Hot
  • Yellow
  • Big

Teacher talk:

-What is the colour of the sun?

- Is the sun hot or cold?

- Is the sun big or small?

Step 1

[While-listening]

[ 10 min ]

1. The teacher plays the song You are my sunshine.

2. Pupils listen to the song.

3. Teacher reads the lyrics and pupils read after the teacher.

4. Pupils read aloud, and teacher check their pronunciation.

5. Pupils sing the song together.

Suggested lyrics:

You are my sunshine

My only sunshine

You make me happy when skies are grey

Youll never know dear

How much I love you

Please dont take my sunshine away

Teaching Aids:

1.power point [Refer to Appendix 2] -You are my sunshine songs and lyrics

Step 2

[Post listening]

[ 8 min ]

  1. Teacher puts up the pictures of rain and sun on the blackboard.
  2. Teacher gets the pupils to talk about the activities that can be done in that kind of weather.
  3. Pupils picked randomly choose the correct word card and match it to the picture.

Example :

- eating ice-cream

- sleeping

- doing homework

- reading

  1. Teacher asks pupils other activities that they know
