Mr. Vy: The alarm goes off at 4:30. I get up and go down to the kitchen to boil some water for my morning tea. I drink several cups of tea, have a quick breakfast and then lead the buffalo to the field. It takes me 45 minutes to get ready. I leave the house at a quarter past five and arrive in the field at exactly 5:30. I plough and harrow my plot of land and at a quarter to eight I take a short rest. During my break I often drink tea with my fellow peasants and smoke local tobacco. I continue to work from a quarter past eight till 10:30. Then I go home, take a short rest and have lunch with my family at 11:30. After lunch I usually take an hour's rest.

Mrs. Tuyet: At 2:30 in the afternoon we go to the field again. We repair the banks of our plot of land. Then my husband pumps water into it while I do the transplanting. We work for about two hours before we take a rest. We finish our work at 6 p.m. We have dinner at about 7 p.m., then we watch TV and go to bed at about 10 p.m. Sometimes we go and see our neighbours for a cup of tea. We chat about our work, our children and our plans for the next crop. Although it’s a long day for us, we are contented with what we do. We love working and we love our children.

Task 3. Scan the passage and make a brief note about Mr. Vy and Mrs. Tuyet's daily routines. Then compare your note with a partner. (Đọc lướt đoạn văn và ghi chú vắn tắt về công việc thường làm hằng ngày của ông Vy và bà Tuyết. Sau đó so sánh bảng ghi chú của em với bạn cùng học.)

In the morning

- 4.30: Mr Vy gets up, goes down to the kitchen, boils water for tea, drinks tea, has a quick breakfast, leads the buffalo to the field.

Mr Vy and Mrs Tuyet are farmers. They get up early, at 4:30 a.m. They work hard on their plot of land, usually from 5:30 a.m. till 6 p.m. Mr Vy usually takes an hour's rest after lunch.

After dinner, they watch TV and go to bed at about 10 p.m. Sometimes, they visit their neighbors and chat ahoul their work, their children and their plan for thc next crop. They love working and they love their children as well.

The events: got on plane, plane took off, air-hostesses were just beginning to serve lunch when plane began to shake, plane seemed to dip, people screamed in panic. The climax: We thought we had only minutes to live. The conclusion: Pilot announced that everything was all right, we landed safely. 3. Task 3 Build up a narrative about a hotel fire - Ask Ss to run through the task - Explain some difficult words (if necessary) - Ask Ss to works in groups and build up a narrative about a hotel fire using the prompts. - Call on some Ss to present in front of class - Give feedback -> suggested answer:   Last year, I spent my summer holiday at a seaside town. The hotel was modern and comfortable. I had a wonderful holiday until it fired. It was Saturday evening and everybody was sitting in the discotheque on the ground floor. It was crowded with people. They were dancing and singing happily. Suddenly, we smelt smoke. Then black smoke began to fill the room. Everybody started to scream in panic. People ran toward the fire exits. One door was blocked. Many people began coughing and choking  Then, just as we thought we had only minutes to live, the fire brigade arrived. The firemen fought their way into the room and soon everybody was safely out of the building. Luckily, nobody was seirously hurt. It was the most frightening experience of my life. III.
