Peripera ink the airy velvet review năm 2024

Last time, I shared my review and swatches of the NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream. In this post, I would be reviewing and sharing swatches of lip products from a popular Korean brand. If you are a fan of anything and everything K, [K-Pop, K-Drama, K-Culture] you might have already jumped in the lip tint hype train. And you probably already heard of the Peri pera Lip Tints. I currently own two kinds of their tints, in 3 different shades. If you are curious to know my thoughts about all of them, please keep reading. 🙂 By the way, I have a lip swatch video of these babies on my YouTube channel. I hope you check that out as well. 🙂

CRITERIA:

PACKAGING – Is it cute? Is the packaging too bulky or too flimsy or sturdy enough? Does it get dirty easily? Do I see myself travelling with it? Is it pretty enough to give as a gift to someone?

PERFORMANCE – Is it easy to use/apply? Does it blend easily? Is it beginner-friendly? Do I feel pretty whenever I wear it? Is the color match perfect?

LONGEVITY – Can I wear it for events? How about for extreme outdoor activities? How often do I need to reapply? Is the SPF high enough?

VARIETY – Is the shade selection wide? Do I see it working for different skin tones/colors?

VALUE FOR MONEY – If it is affordable, I have lower expectations but I prefer it over luxury/expensive products for which I have higher expectations. Would I repurchase it?

Overall Ratings:

Ink Velvet- 4.9/5 ❤ ❤

Airy Ink Velvet- 4.6/5

PACKAGING – The Peri pera tints all come in a cute packaging which looks like a dropper bottle. They first released the Peri’s Ink Tints, which are their original classic lip tints. Those come in bold-colored bottles. Eventually, they released other types and formulas for their lip tint. I currently own two variants: the Ink Velvet and the Airy Ink Velvet. The Ink Velvet comes in a matte bottle, while the Airy Ink Velvet comes in a frosted bottle packaging. The color of the bottle is supposed to represent the color/shade that you get; but honestly a lot of the bottles look almost identical and they do not look the same when worn on the lips. The applicator is slightly slanted; but I think the newer shades have a different applicator. The tints have some weight and are very sturdy; but they’re cute, tiny and not bulky at all. It’s also easy to put them in your makeup bag and bring with you when you travel. I had no spilling/leaking issues with any of them and the cap closes tightly. 😉

PERFORMANCE – The tints apply smoothly onto the lips. The applicator has just enough amount of product for both the upper and lower lips. The Peri pera tints are also pigmented and opaque; and for most of them, all you need is just one swipe to cover the entire lips. In my experience, the Airy Ink Velvet tints are less pigmented, more lightweight on the lips; and they need two or more swipes to get full pigment. However, they are easy to build up and you can apply more layers without it feeling heavy and sticky on the lips. In that sense, it is more beginner-friendly. The Ink Velvet tints, on the other hand, are bold and intense. They have the same level of pigment as the original Peri’s Ink tints; but because they are called Velvet tints, they have a more velvety matte finish. This formula and finish is similar to that of a liquid lipstick; and in my experience, the Ink Velvet tints apply, set and last like a liquid lipstick. The main difference is: THEY DO STAIN THE LIPS! And when I say STAIN, I MEAN IT! 😉 We’ll talk more about longevity later but what’s important to note about the performance of both these tints [Ink Velvet and Airy Ink Velvet] is they apply and feel less like tints and more like liquid lipsticks! [in my honest opinion]

Some Notes about the Ingredients:

  1. Ink Velvet

Dimethicone is a commonly used ingredient in many beauty products. It is also used as an additive in food products. It is an emulsifier, moisturizer and emollient. However, some people might experience redness and irritation caused by this ingredient. That is why it is recommended to do a patch test first! 🙂

Glyceryl Acrylate/Acrylic Acid Copolymer is a polymer [big molecule from repeated subunits] with glycerin attached to it in some places. This polymer forms a hydrogel that sits on the surface of the skin and provides it with moisturizing ingredients such as glycerin, giving it a nice slippery feel. It is also a thickening agent that can draw water to the skin, providing skin hydration.

Water is not the first ingredient; but it’s still high up in the list as it comes third.

Mica is a naturally-occurring mineral that comes in powder or dust form. It is commonly used in foundations to provide a sparkly white appearance to the product. Small amounts of mica in cosmetics do not pose a risk to human health.

Silica is commonly used in cosmetics because it has particles that absorb sweat and oil. Its particles also prevent light reflection and improve spreadability. There are many types of silica; and the kinds [amorphous and hydrated] which are often used in skin care and makeup products were found to be safe to use.

Cyclopentasiloxane is a silicone derivative commonly used in cosmetic and skin care products. It is synthetically produced and has low viscosity. It absorbs quickly in the skin because it is considered an emollient that soothes and softens the skin. For more information regarding this ingredient, read //thedermreview.com/cyclopentasiloxane/.

Fragrance can be natural or artificial and it is used in many consumer products to give them a distinct scent. It is used in cosmetics and personal care products because it provides certain benefits to well-being and in some cases, relieves stress. Read more about fragrance and its uses in //cosmeticsinfo.org/ingredient/fragrance. However, according to paulaschoice.com, fragrance-free products are actually the best for everyone because research shows that “fragrances in skin care products are among the most common cause of sensitizing and other negative skin reactions” for all skin types, [//www.paulaschoice.com/expert-advice/skincare-advice/sensitive-skin/why-fragrance-free-products-are-best-for-everyone.html] I personally continue using products with fragrance/s as long as I am sure that I am not allergic or sensitive to them; and that my skin does not react negatively to such fragrances. I also do a “patch test” every time I am trying a new beauty product for the first time. Lastly, whenever I do use a product with fragrance, I make sure that it is at the bottom of the ingredient list. That way, I can be assured that the product does not contain a lot of it.

Illicium Verum [Anise] Fruit Extract can have potent antioxidant properties. It also has the ability to tighten and tone the skin, leaving it firm and smooth. According to naturalfacetherapy.com, other benefits of anise for the skin include: it smoothens the skin, reduces dark marks, reduces free radicals, tightens the skin, and it is a relatively inexpensive way to fight wrinkles.

2. Airy Ink Velvet

Titanium Dioxide is an “inert earth mineral used as a thickening, whitening, lubricating, and sunscreen ingredient in cosmetics. It protects the skin from UVA and UVB rays and it is considered to have no risk of skin sensitivity. Also, because it is gentle, titanium dioxide is a great sunscreen active ingredient suitable for sensitive and redness-prone skin. Titanium dioxide nanoparticles were also found to be safe to use on the skin.

Camellia Sinensis Seed Oil is also called green tea seed oil. It is used as a moisturizer or humectants in cosmetics. It is rich in tocopherols and antioxidants. It is also non-greasy and fast-absorbing; and it is effective in treating acne and unclogging pores.

Cottonseed Oil is extracted from the seeds of cotton. Its color is light yellow. In cosmetics, it is used as a skin conditioning agent, emollient, cleansing or emulsifying agents, and viscosity-increasing agent.

Mango Seed Oil is extracted from the seeds of mangoes. In cosmetics, it is used as a skin-conditioning agent, cleansing or emulsifying agents, and viscosity-increasing agent.

LONGEVITY – There is a huge difference between the longevity of the two types of Peri pera tints. The Ink Velvet is much more long-lasting; while the Airy Ink Velvet lasts only around 4 hours. The Ink Velvet is also transfer-proof, smudge-proof, waterproof and food-proof; while the Airy Ink Velvet is not. Basically, the Peri pera Ink Velvet will last throughout the day; and it will remain on the lips until you decide to take it off. [which could be the next day] I haven’t tried wearing these while swimming but I think they’ll last through that. I think it’s safe to say that these tints could last even a zombie apocalypse. 😀

Meanwhile, the Airy Ink Velvet Tints do not have a good lasting power. For some, this may be a total bummer but for me, it’s still fine because what it lacks in longevity, it compensates for in comfort. These tints are SUPER lightweight and comfortable on the lips! True to their name, these tints feel “airy” on the lips. Whenever I wear them, it feels like I’m wearing no lip product on the lips. My lips also remain moisturized, not dry or chapped whenever I wear the Airy Ink Velvet tints.

VARIETY – Peri pera is a Korean brand that is most known for their lip tints. Since they were introduced, Peri pera kept adding more shades to existing kinds of tints and they also kept releasing more kinds. Now they have the original Peri’s Ink, the Ink Velvet, the Airy Ink Velvet, the Ink Tint Serum, the Colorfit Tint Water Gel, the Cloud Ink Velvet, the Vivid Tint Water, the Ink Gelato, the Water Tint, the Ink Tint Tattoo, and the Ink Matte Blur Tint. I am interested in trying out more shades from the Ink Velvet and Airy Velvet line; and I also want to keep trying out more tints from Peri pera. They just offer a wide variety of shades, formulas and finishes; and I’m sure anyone can find a Peri pera tint that will be their “holy grail” or favorite product. 🙂 As for the shade range, most Korean lip products lean towards reds, pinks and oranges. There are not a lot of browns, nudes and bold shades. However, I still find their shade range wide enough if you’re looking for products that will give you a Korean-inspired look. 😉

VALUE FOR MONEY – Peri pera is available in some malls and department stores here in the Philippines. Since Peri pera is under the Korean cosmetic company CLIO, you can buy Peri pera products from CLIO branches here in the Philippines. The Peri pera tints retail for around Php500; however you can get it for less when you buy from Shopee. It’s okay to buy from Shopee; but just make sure you buy from trusted sellers and check the reviews and comments about the seller and their products. I have bought all of my Peri pera tints from Shopee for less than Php400 each. I’d say it’s a pretty good deal and I definitely recommend trying this product.
