Can I use laptop on AC power?

Hi there. I have a quick question. I have a Toshiba Satellite S50D - A laptop and to be honest i am using it only as a desktop, running on AC power and removing it when the battery reaches 100% charged, maybe 80% from the time and only the rest of the time do I move it out from the room and only within the house. What I am trying to find out is if I can disable the battery in the BIOS or in some other way and keep it running only on AC power. Even work-related duties on my laptop are carried out home and not on the road. Please advise. Thanks in advance for the time taken to review and answer.

I believe most of the laptops can run on main power.

Yes you can run your laptop in AC mode, some laptops, you can see the extended battery life options when you select power options by clicking the battery icon on the notification area on the taskbar. My Dell laptop for instance, I downloaded it from the dell webpage. With this extended battery life options you can chooses between desktop mode, and other battery assistance options. For your laptop with in built battery I'm sure it should brle readily available when you visit the Toshiba site.

If you only want to run it on mains power just go ahead and do that. When the battery is fully charged, the charger will cut off automatically. You don't need to remove the battery for that. Battery life _may_ be extended by having it fully discharged occasionally, but this will make very little difference.

No problem !

You have no need to worry about power source.

Should I remove the battery when A/C is plugged in?

Many laptop users have this question and we will answer it right now:

The answer is: YES and NO, it depends on the situation.

You can remove the battery, but you must remove the entire underside of the case to get to it. I wouldn't even bother messing with it. Every couple of weeks, just use it unplugged so you are consuming battery power until it gets to 10-15% before plugging it in again and you should be golden.

Hello, yes you can but it would be better if you remove the battery. Make sure that battery is charged to at least 50% before removing it. If possible, make sure to store it in a place where it is not in contact with environment.

Didn't read that fully! - Yes, you can run it from AC - at least on most laptops.

Some you can even remove the battery and run it from AC, though if you do that make sure your charger isnt loose or you could damage hardware/loose data
