I am trying to install the latest version of Debian. I used the netinstall CD which I downloaded from Debian's website. Checksum looked good. Burned that to a CD. Every single archive is telling me "Bad archive mirror". I used ctrl+alt+f2 to get to a console. ping 192.168.1.1 is G2G ping debian.org is G2G ping 8.8.8.8 is G2G I have another laptop connected to the same switch that I am using to write this thread. So I know the network is working just fine. Use ctrl+alt+f4 to see the syslog. "WARNING **: mirror does not support the specified release [bullseye]" Ummmm, so you're telling me none of the Debian mirrors support the latest release? ctrl+alt+f5 gets me back to the install.

Okay, It's been an hour, I did not restart the install or anything, I just tried the same mirror for the 100th time and it worked. Only thing I can figure is that all the servers were mirroring or something and my timing for doing this install this morning was bad.

Very helpful post. I'm getting the exact same error and situation as yours above [for Bookworm], just a few months later. I too find it hard to believe the latest release is having trouble or that's it's bad timing on my part. Quite disheartening though, because my love for Linux Mint now finds me getting deeper into basic Linux with Debian, but I'm stuck. I guess I'll keep trying.

Hi,

This sounds like when the download attempts were made, the mirror itself was updating from the master server. In the future check the mirror itself to see its status which can be done via http and looking to see if the remote directory holds a file named 'Archive Update in Progress' if it does hold that file you should wait until the update finishes I.E. that file disappears,or choose another mirror.

Typo perfectionish.

I have same problem, i tryed to install 2.8.2 and 2.8.0 freshlly downloaded from websites. I used Rufus to burn it to USB flash disk [no problem], when i insert it to computer [Dell 7010] and try live version everything work great, latency test and even internet. But when i try to install it and have connected internet cable to computer, installer freeze for 10 minutes [same behavior when i tryed to install on my main computer]. When i disconect internet cable it show that no network was found and proceed to next step.

It seems that everything is installed but then i get same error as shown in picture above. When i want to proceed without this step it stop on next step "GRUB installation failed"

I noticed that everywhere is "-amd64" [on live version etc.] but i have intel CPU, did i done something wrong ??

Try installing the official ISO without internet, worked every time before. And amd64 is OK for intel, well it is the only one for 64 bit intel but the AMD name stuck to it as AMD was the first to officialy sell 64 bit cpu.

By "official" you mean linuxcnc.org/downloads/ ? I tryed that "LinuxCNC 2.8.2 Debian 10 Buster PREEMPT-RT ISO", but with no luck. I tryed to install Ubuntu 20.04 LTS with no problem, same proces, download on windwos computer, burn to USB with Rufus boot and install, no problem at all. I only think that i saw some error lines when booting but they disapear so quickly that i didn't even had time to recognise what is going on.

So it's there some easy way how to instal LinuxCNC on already installed Linux [Ubuntu, but i can try to install other one] ??

I suspect you do not have internet. Perhaps a driver did not install for your network card. I saw that on the weekend. What PC and do you know what ethernet chip is used?
