HÀ NỘI — Phenikaa Group has been named as one of top 100 sustainable enterprises in Việt Nam in 2023, making the 6th consecutive time the company has received the recognition.

The Sustainable Businesses in Việt Nam [CSI 100] is an annual prestigious award to assess the sustainable development of businesses in Việt Nam.

The awards have been granted by the Việt Nam Chamber of Commerce and Industry [VCCI] and the Việt Nam Business Council for Sustainable Development [VBCSD] in collaboration with the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour over the past eight years.

Awarded firms are selected based on the 130 indicators. Of these, up to 82 indicators are related to legal compliance requirements, while 48 are sustainability indicators, focusing on counting carbon emissions; adapting and mitigating climate change and implementing circular economic models.

Phenikaa, which is present in over 50 countries, including strict ones such as the US, Canada, the EU, the UK and Japan, has applied international standards on green, clean and environmentally friendly production.

Nestlé Vietnam continues to lead the Top 100 Sustainable Companies [CSI] in 2023 in the manufacturing sector. The company is also among the five most pioneering enterprises in implementing circular economy solutions and carbon emissions reductions.

The voting results were announced at a ceremony by the Vietnam Confederation of Commerce and Industry and the Vietnam Business Council for Sustainable Development on December 13.

This is the third consecutive year that Nestlé Vietnam has been recognised as the most sustainable company in Vietnam in the manufacturing sector.

The updated CSI 2023 programme includes 130 indicators, including 82 basic aspects of legal compliance and 48 advanced criteria for building a healthy business ecosystem to ensure long-term benefits and sustainability.

Nestlé Vietnam excelled and was ranked top among the 500 businesses that applied to participate in the scheme.

Following its continuous sustainable development over many years, 2023 has seen numerous new steps forward for Nestlé Vietnam in environmental, economic, and social respects.

The company signed an MoU with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in June to develop sustainable and regenerative agriculture that aims to reduce emissions. The two cooperate to share and promote regenerative agricultural practices, emissions reductions, technology transfer, research, and digital transformation in a bid to respond to climate change.

Also in 2023, Nestlé launched its Agroforestry and Reforestation project in Vietnam, aiming to plant more than 2.3 million trees and contribute to storing about 480,000 tons of CO2 from 2023 to 2027.

In January, Nestlé Vietnam was honoured on the list of enterprises that paid the most corporate income tax in Vietnam in 2022. This marked the seventh consecutive time it has been on the list issued by the General Tax Department.

This year, the Nestlé Accompanying Women programme, in cooperation with the Vietnam Women's Union, was expanded to 21 provinces and cities with the participation of more than 5,000 women, contributing to rural economic development and enhancing the economic role of women.

At the end of October, Nestlé Vietnam was honoured as a Typical Enterprise for Labour in 2023 by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour, in coordination with the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs and the Vietnam Confederation of Commerce and Industry. This is the fourth consecutive time it has received this title.

In November, the company was honoured with the first position in the rankings of Best Places to Work in Vietnam in 2023, announced by Anphabe. With survey results from nearly 64,000 employees across Vietnam, the award is a testament to the company's persistent efforts to build an advanced working environment in which its employees can develop their capabilities.
