She was wearing one of those mascot suits on a pretty warm day. To be honest, I usually don’t give into aggressive marketing but she had a strong grip and she called me “unnie” in the sweetest voice. So I gave in! I know, I shouldn’t have but I caved. But then this is how I justified my reasons for caving ‘She’s probably just trying to make ends meet and earning money to pay for her tuition’ and ‘My sister’s birthday is coming up and I desperately need to send a gift’. So long story short, I ended up spending like 60,000-65,000 won (so roughly $60-65). Which is pretty decent considering the number of things I bought that day (a toner and moisturizer set, the sherbet cleanser, lipstick and a bottle of eye makeup remover). The total was so much cheaper than what I had anticipated and that was because they had 40-50% sale going on that day. Tony Moly Clear Lip and Eye Remover So on with the products that I got. I’ll talk about the lip and eye remover first. I’ve lived here long enough that the name of this product doesn’t encourage me to think that this product removes your lips or eyes. Just insert “makeup” at the end of “eye”. For me, the smell is unpleasant. No one else mentioned it in their reviews but, it smells like rubbing alcohol to me. Now I know why when people review products, they sometimes point out things that don’t seem to exist to me because not once did I read any complaints on this particular product’s smell. Another thing is it takes a bit of work for me to remove all of my eye makeup. So there’s a lot of sweeping and a bit of rubbing. I wear mascara on my top and bottom lids so it’s usually a pain to have it removed at the end of the day. The last con for me is the first few times I used it, it actually stung quite a bit. It hasn’t as of late but it did the first few times. That was a very unpleasant experience. I only remember that happening to me once when I used eye makeup remover pads by Almay (beware, they really do sting). I don’t consider myself to have sensitive skin near my eyes so I don’t know if it’s something I exclusively experienced? Is it an effective product? Well, with a bit of work, it does remove all of my eye makeup. But I’m an impatient girl. So, I will try to finish the bottle that I have now and the funny thing is the other day when my online haul from Tony Moly arrived, they sent me a free bottle of the this exact lip and eye remover makeup and I thought “Oh great, not more!” The one thing I do like is the way this product dispenses. You simply place a cotton ball or pad on the plastic pump and press down. The product is drawn up and disperses on your cotton ball/pad. I had a blonde moment when I first opened the lid and thought “And how does it come out?” Would I purchase this again in the future? Probably not. Well, I don’t have to even if my mind changes now that I have a second bottle stored away. But hey, everyone’s different, you might like it. So in summary for those who like to skip right to the pros and cons. I know some people are seeking paraben free products so if you are one of them, you might want to avoid this one. I didn’t realize this until today. Tony Moly Relaxing Aqua Sherbet Cleanser I’ve always used oil cleansers to remove my makeup in the past so I’m totally new to sherbet cleansers. I love everything from the texture to the scent of this product. It smells great and that’s always a plus for me. I’ve got a really sensitive nose. Another thing I like is it’s not runny. I’m sometimes clumsy so when I used to use oil cleansers, it would actually escape and slip through my fingers. So I used to rub the oil between my palms and transfer the cleanser to my face as quickly as possible. I think I would have liked it if a scoop was included with the cleanser but my fingers will just have to do. I just have to make sure to pick up the right amount of product the first time so I don’t repeatedly stick my hand in the jar and contaminate the product. Sherbet cleansers are so much better in my opinion. Once the product is massaged on my face, I literally see all of makeup just come slipping off. Of course, I follow up with a foam cleanser to make sure none of that bb cream is left behind. So are there any cons about this product for me? Well, if I really had to think of a con, maybe the price? It costs 9,800 won. I would really consider repurchasing this product though because I really like the way it removes my makeup. Intense Care Snail Foam Cleansner Okay, last but not least we have the Intense Care Snail Foam Cleanser. Before this cleanser, I was all about Innisfree Olive Real Cleansing Foam. It was the only thing I used for years. I even introduced it to my boyfriend and my family back home. It’s a good product but I felt like moving on and trying new things so last winter, I picked up this one along with Missha Super Aqua Refreshing Cleansing Foam. I alternated between the two and then ended up re-purchasing just this one. Product Description: Anti-aging, skin repair and brightening foam cleanser. Moisturizing and removes dirt and impurities. Gentle on skin. The Intense Care Snail Foam Cleanser doesn’t foam up a whole lot but it did leave my face feeling clean after a single wash. I said “did” because I feel a bit differently about it these days. Nowadays, I tend to wash my face twice on days that I wear makeup because the first wash usually doesn’t leave my face feeling squeaky clean. I would say it’s an average product for me. Will I purchase this for a third time? Probably not, especially now that I’ve been introduced to Etude House Baking Powder BB Deep Cleansing Foam. Here’s the good: – paraben free, ethanol free, mineral oil free, GMO free, hormone free – does not contain artificial scents – gentle and non-drying on the skin – has 5% snail extract And the bad: – doesn’t effectively remove makeup If you don’t wear a whole lot of makeup, the Intense Care Snail Foam Cleanser is a decent product. It gets the job done and is recommended as a morning cleanser! |
