Achieving a flawless base in your makeup game is quite vital as it can make or break your whole look. A cakey makeup is a serious no in 2018. Being blessed with oily skin , I have always struggled with the right foundation for my skin as soon as I heard that L.A girl has launched a new foundation which claims to have a shine free formula my inner instincts spoke out loud and I finally purchased this foundation, I even heard influencers raving about the finish of this foundation . Along with foundation I also got the pro HD face powder from LA girl as I wanted new pressed powder since a long time. L.A girl is quite famous for their concealers [which I already love] , therefore I was quite intrigued to try their foundation and powder, read below to find out how these worked on me..

Packaging :-

L.A girl pro matte foundation comes in a frosted glass packaging which I love , it looks sleek and beautiful . It comes with pump which dispenses right amount of product, I generally prefer pump packaging in foundations. The pro HD pressed powder comes in a round compact see through case, it has mirror as well and a sponge applicator . I am not the big fan of this packaging , it doesn’t feel sturdy at all.

My take on the product :-

Pigmentation, Shade, Texture and Staying ability :-

Finding the perfect shade online is like a task , I literally waited a long time to get this foundation on my hand as I was unsure about the shade . After watching umpteen reviews online on this foundation I decided to take a chance and pick the shade ‘natural’ which I feel appeared quite close match to my skin tone . After I received this foundation I did pat myself as the shade was spot on match . Starting with my experience with foundation , it claims to have a buildable coverage with soft suede like finish . Honestly this foundation does have a soft suede finish which looks beautiful , it is quite pigmented and unlike other matte foundations this doesn’t give a flat matte finish .It does oxidizes a bit. The shade natural has a perfect yellow undertone to it therefore it matches my skin tone really well [ For reference my shade matches are – MAC NC25, MAYBELLINE FIT ME IN 128 WARM NUDE AND LOREAL PRO MATTE IN 105 ]

L.A girl pro matte foundation gives a velvety smooth finish and has medium to full coverage, It easily covers my blemishes and acne scars. This foundation works best with a foundation brush or even fingers as it has light weight formula .It blends seamlessly , I feel for my oily skin this foundation is amazing as it dint settle into my fine lines or pores and made my skin appear healthy. Being a matte foundation it dint cling in dry patches and that’s what I love about this foundation. In comparison to my other drugstore foundations like Maybelline fit me and L’Oreal , this out stands a lot in terms of finish .

Coming to the HD pro face powder , I got it in the shade creamy natural . This powder is finely milled and it doesn’t feel heavy . It has super soft smooth texture , I like the fact that it works great over this foundation or even solo. Pressed powder is quite important for setting our makeup , this powder works great for that purpose as it is light weight and has non chalky texture which blends seamlessly .

The foundation without a primer was intact for about 4-5 hours after which I could notice a little shine around my forehead and nose , however with primer it was on for good 7 hours . The pro HD face powder on the other hand did control oil on my face for 3-4 hours , nonetheless I really like the smoothness of this pressed powder it leaves a nice finish on my skin.

Overall verdict:-

Oily skin? Looking for a foundation which gives an airbrushed soft finish ? Then L.A girl pro matte foundation is your answer , it has medium to full coverage which works like a dream on oily skin. The pro HD face powder is like a cherry on the top of the cake , its finely milled and works great on top of this foundation or as it is as a compact powder . I am definitely impressed by L.A girl, their base products are worth trying. However make sure to find your perfect shade as this foundation is high in coverage.
