What is the most common form of software theft?

"oh, crap!" , "I didn't intend to"

These are top two words we hear from people who have done software piracy. When I was a construction software seller, I’ve seen a variety of piracy. Most were using the so-called cracked version or some were lending out the license to other companies.

Today, I am dishing up the 3 common types of software piracy whether people know or not. If something bothers you when you read this, please take a deep look. Or you would face a situation to say "oh, crap!"

Type 1) Copy lovers

These includes largely two types - users who share the software, and dealers who sell a copy of it. We find the example on campus, that college students install a single license onto several computers, and take turns using them. More interestingly, they even don't realize whether it is unauthorized or not.

On the flip side, this kind of piracy is often caused by hardware dealers. By copying an unauthorized copy of the software, dealers provide end-users with the fake copies.

Type 2) Kind lender

A Kind lender lends out the license within a certain period that the owner himself or herself doesn't use. Most customers consider it their discretion (apparently they paid out).

However, lending out software is undoubtedly in violation of a Single-user license. Therefore, when you hire out software in a legitimate way, don't forget to receive permission from the copyright holder.

Type 3) Crack searchers

Illegal downloading through the internet is the fast-growing form of piracy. As a bunch of data sharing platforms is emerging, it gets much easier for users to get unlimited downloads. Free software with unlimited downloads? That is music to your ears!

However, there are no free lunches in the world. You may find extra sugars from hackers. Furthermore, as the number of online piracy is increasing rapidly, crackdowns on piracy are being tightened.
