Are Amazons good in Diablo 2?

Play everything. When you feel too weak or stuck, re-roll the next thing that interests you and use runes/drops from the first character to jump-start the new one. Then pass drops back to the first character as you play others, particularly for class/build-specific items, until you find something you want to stick with or get strong enough to continue.

Another benefit of this playstyle is that in Hell difficulty, immunities are a big issue for a lot of builds and you may only be efficient at farming certain areas. So if you want to do Mephisto runs, you can farm on the character that is best at getting to him and killing him (he is more resistant to Fire, Lightning, and Poison on Nightmare difficulty). Same for Baal runs, pit runs, the rest of the act bosses, Countess, etc. all of which have enemy types with different immunities.

Sharing class specific items between characters, as well as having enough storage for runes and socketable white items, is a big deal so the normal stash is often not enough and you will need to 'mule' extra items to additional characters' stashes. I highly recommend playing with a friend or consider using one of the mods that gives you a shared stash in single player since solo muleing on bnet in d2 is an awful experience.

Navigate menus too quickly while switching characters? IP temp ban. Create too many games while farming? Temp ban. Random server your game was created on decides to close the session while you change characters? Rip items.

You can also tackle immunities on hell difficulty much easier if you have variety in your damage types with multiple players, or immunity removal like curses.

My favorite when the game first came out was cold Sorceress, then high strength lance Barbarian ("titan" build). My all-time favorite now is kick+trap assassin that deals hybrid physical kicking damage + lightning traps + corpse explosion fire/physical.

Out of the options you presented, I would personally go Amazon. I always found lightning Javazon to be stronger end-game over Bowazon, especially if you play self-found without INSANE equipment. Getting a titan's revenge off Mephisto and a spirit shield is pretty easy. Get used to just running past lightning immune enemies with that build though until you have some really expensive lightning resist removal like Infinity merc for conviction aura.

"A master of the javelin and bow, the Amazon reacts to combat situations with superhuman agility. She relies on magic prowess to enhance her significant martial abilities."

Are Amazons good in Diablo 2?

The Amazon is a playable class in Diablo II.

Lore

The Amazon is a powerful woman warrior of the Askari, who belongs to nomadic bands who roam the plains near the South Sea. The wandering of these groups often brings them into conflict with other peoples, so the Amazon is accustomed to fighting to defend her own. This lifestyle has made her fiercely independent and able to weather severe hardship and travel. While her skill with the Bow rivals that of the Rogues, the Amazon is also adept in the use of Spears and Javelins, as well as in hand to hand combat. Amazon Weapons are items which only Amazons can equip. These are special Bows, Javelins and Spears. The Amazon is much sought after as a mercenary, in which type of service she will be loyal as long as her own ends are also served.

Trivia

Are Amazons good in Diablo 2?

This section contains facts and trivia relevant to this article.

  • The voice acting provided to the Amazon class in Diablo II and Diablo II: Lord of Destruction, is done by the voice actor Jessica Straus. Straus has also done other voice acting work for Blizzard Entertainment, including Warcraft III and World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King.
  • The Amazon Cassia is playable in Heroes of the Storm. An Amazon skin for Nova has also been implemented into the game.[1]
  • The Amazon was considered for inclusion in Diablo III as per the game's 'hero pack' model, but was passed over in favor of the Necromancer.[2]
  • Out of the five original characters in Diablo II, the Amazon was the first to be developed to completion.[3] The developers wanted to work on a "hot chick" as their first class, hence the results. The original design was done by Kris Renkewitz. She sketched a tall, fearsome woman who wore bracers that coiled down her arms, animal-skin boots, and mummy-like wrappings that covered her most intimate parts, leaving the rest of her skin exposed. Her hair was short and spiky, her visage grim and feral. She was, in Renkewitz's mind, an "amazon." However, Max Schaefer, Erich Schaefer, and David Brevik reacted negatively to the "Xena-like appearance." The class was redesigned by Phil Shenk.[4]
