So, you have a bunch of Genshin Impact characters but aren't sure how powerful they are. Luckily, we've put together a tier list that can help you gauge how your characters stack up to others on the roster. Keep in mind, not all tier lists are the same since it's largely based on the opinion of whoever ranked the characters. Nevertheless, it's an important part of the player experience, especially with Gacha games like Genshin Impact where you dont know which character youre going to get per roll.

Genshin Impact Tier List - Best and Worst Characters

Before we begin, let's preface how these characters are ranked. As stated above, a tier list is largely based on the opinion of the person who made it. In addition to our impressions of the characters and our experience playing with them, we've also considered their placements on existing tier lists.

With all of that out of the way, its time to find out who are the best Genshin Impact characters!

Genshin Impact Main DPS Tier List

The Main DPS character in Genshin Impact typically deals lots of damage and is the character that will primarily carry your team in the game. For these reasons, they are on the field most of the time.

The whole of S-tier is the cream of the crop. Those characters deal the most amount of damage and can carry your team in almost all content with average investment as long as a good support character is present, like Bennett. Those in the A-tier require a little bit more investment but are still viable, expect to spend a little more time in their artifact domains to build them up properly.

B-tier and below are generally not used that much as a main DPS in high-end content. Some of them are very useful in quick swap teams, but not as a sole main DPS.

Genshin Impact Sub DPS Tier List

Sub DPS characters fall somewhere between a Support and Main DPS character in Genshin Impact and can usually deal damage even though they're not on-field. They can deal a lot of damage, but they are sometimes replaced by another support character depending on the team composition. They should synergize well with your Main DPS character.

Sub DPS characters are essential to the party as they add to the damage that's already being dealt by the main DPS either through buffs or effects that persist even though they're not on the field. S-Tier has a lot of characters that do this, for example, Mona and Xingqiu deal a lot of hydro damage while Venti and Kazuha have the ability to Swirl and group up opponents for an easier time.

A-Tier characters in here do the same as the S-Tiers but with a little setback, they're held back by either having a high energy cost for their burst or just having a high cooldown in their elemental skill.

B-tiers and below are either plagued with this problem even more or are just not worth it to invest in due to other characters being better at what they do.

Genshin Impact Support Tier List

Support characters are the backbone of your team composition in Genshin Impact. Theyre the ones who are tasked with keeping your team alive or applying constant elemental reactions to the enemy. They provide valuable support for the Main DPS and the whole party doesnt have a hard time.

Support characters, as stated above, are the backbone of your team composition. Having a solid support character can mean life or death as some of these characters can heal and boost defenses. S-Tier has Bennett which can heal you and boost your attack, one of the only characters who can do so. Most of the S-Tier characters have already appeared in the Sub DPS tier list, this is due to the fact that these roles can overlap quite a bit with only little differences.

Support characters typically have either a heal, shield or give great utility to the team. A-Tier has Diona who has a shield and a heal, Sangonomiya Kokomi who has great healing power, and Kujou Sara who can buff your party's attacks but can require a little more setup than Bennett's.

B-Tier characters, just like the others on the past tier lists, just have other characters that outshine them in their roles which makes investing in them not worth it. However, if you don't have the higher-tier characters, it's perfectly fine to invest in them.
