I'm glad that I bought this book. I used it for studying for my ielts exam and I got an outstanding score which is more than I expected to get. I think that the most important thing that helped me is the four complete practice tests on all the sections. About the AuthorAbout the Author Lin Lougheed is the leading authority in ESL test preparation for TOEIC, TOEFL, and IELTS. Dr.Lougheed started his EFL career in 1968 as a Peace Corps volunteer in Turkey. He earned his doctorate at Teachers College, Columbia University and has received two Fulbright awards: a scholar grant in Sri Lanka and a professor grant in Tunisia. As a Foreign Service Officer, he trained teachers and worked with Ministries of Education in Guatemala, Columbia, Haiti, Chile, Sudan, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, and Kazakhstan. For his publishers he has given teaching training seminars in Japan, Taiwan, Thailand, South Korea and Puerto Rico.In 1983, he founded Instructional Design International, Inc. to develop English teaching materials in all media. Lin is a past member of the TESOL Executive Board and has served as the chair of two special interest groups: Teaching English Internationally and Materials Writers. He has written over 40 English-as-a-foreign-language texts and had a daily radio show in China on business English. He is currently a Trustee of Columbia University Teachers College. About the Publisher In the 1930s, Manuel H. Barron opened a bookstore in Brooklyn, New York. I could practice the reading and writing passages but it might be applicable for the current exam. 2020 October 27, 2020 This book is great as a starter for those who are still trying to figure out the structure and format of IELTS. However, for those who have already familiar with the test system and just want to do some practice, the questions provided in this book are way too easy compared with the real IELTS questions. 4 reviews February 27, 2023 Although Barrons is a big publishing company, they are not an IELTS company. As such, there is general information about the test but nothing to help students with their specific needs. Some of the advice is also misleading. I took every exam made to estimate my scores . but they all were way far from reality . believe me when i tell you that this book is old and the IELTS test difficulty has changed , well ,not too much ,but much enough to make this book worthless . Is Barrons good for ielts?It contains 7 practice exams, which are formatted exactly like the IELTS test! The advantage of Barron's is that it is almost half the price of the Cambridge book.
