Move desktop icons to other monitor Mac

Intro

For using a computer with multiple monitors connected to it, Airtame will mirror the first of the secondary desktops by default [i.e. the secondary monitor]. The monitor that is being mirrored can be changed by selecting which of them is the main display of the computer. This guide goes over how to configure the main display on the different operating systems that the Airtame app supports.

• Windows 8.1/10 + 2 extra monitors

In this case, if monitor 1 or 3 is set as the main display, Airtame will mirror monitor 2.

If monitor 2 is set as the main display, Airtame will mirror monitor 3.

Steps to change main display:

1. Right-click on any one of the desktops.

2. Click Display Settings

3. Click on the screen number you want to set as the main display.

4. Scroll down.

5. Click on the check box Make this my main display.

In this example well set monitor 3 as the main display:

Please note that for Windows 7, it is expected that the main display will be mirrored, not the secondary one.

• MacOS + one extra monitor

In the case of macOS computers, the multiple monitors are not displayed with numbers, but rather with a white banner on top of the main display, which you can move between the displays to change which one is the main display.

Steps to change the main display:

1. Open "System Preferences" from the Apple menu

2. Click on the Display icon

3. Choose the "Arrangement" tab.

4. Click and hold the white bar at the top of the current primary display, this white bar represents the menu bar on your desktop.

5. Drag the white bar across to the other monitor you want to set as the new primary display for your Mac.

6. Notice the red border that forms around the new primary screen as you drag the white bar into the arrangement, this helps you determine which screen is being used as the primary screen.

7. After you release the white bar onto the other blue screen representation, the screens of both displays will flicker on and off briefly and the video output will adjust to accommodate the new settings.

8. When satisfied with the new primary display setting, close the "System Preferences" to keep the preferences set.
