When do I have to complete my CE?

The compliance date is the last day of the agent's birth month every 2 years.

Effective January 1, 2020, insurance producers must have their CE completed and documented no less than 15 days prior to their license expiration date.

What is a Sircon Fee?

$1.00 per CE credit hour. This fee is charged by Sircon who processes your course completions and the amount collected is sent to Sircon when your credits are reported.

What are the allowed methods of completing CE?

What are the study requirements for my courses?

Agents must read the course material prior to taking the final exam.

Do the exams require monitoring?

No, Noble's self-study exams do not require monitoring. The final exam must be closed book, access to the course material is restricted until the exam has been graded.

Can excess hours be carried over to the next renewal?

Carryover of excess hours is not allowed in Maryland.

Can I repeat a course I've already taken?

Courses may not be taken for credit more than once in each renewal.
If a course is repeated in two different renewal periods, there must be at least 6 months between the course completions to receive credit.

What are the non-resident requirements?

Non-residents, whose resident state has a reciprocal agreement with Maryland, and who comply with CE requirements of the resident state, are exempt from Maryland CE requirements. Non-resident agents must comply with the initial LTC eight-hour training for this state or another state which meets the NAIC LTC Model training outline.

Are all agents required to complete CE?

If prior to October 1, 2008 a resident licensee has been consecutively licensed for 25 or more years their continuing education requirement is 8 hours.

When will my course completions be reported?

Completions for online courses are reported immediately 24/7.
Completions for shipped courses are reported daily. (Monday through Friday)
You will receive an email immediately after your course has been reported.

How long do I have to complete my courses?

Access to your courses will expire 12 months from the date of purchase.

INFORMATION FOR LICENSEES

Producers are no longer required to provide their SSNs to CE providers or to Prometric. (See the FAQs below for details.)

Important Changes

  • As of October 1, 2013, the 50% limitation on self-study courses has been removed. Producers may now take 100% self-study courses towards their CE compliance.
  • If a resident licensee has been consecutively licensed for 25 or more years prior to October 1, 2008, their continuing education requirement is 8 hours.
  • For all resident producers per renewal period, at least 3 hours of the required hours of Continuing Education shall relate directly to ethics.
  • Verifiable self-study courses for continuing education are acceptable if the course has been submitted for approval by an authorized provider.
  • Maryland has NOT increased its continuing education requirement for Long Term Care Insurance. If a producer sells, solicits or negotiates long term care insurance, the continuing education requirement under Maryland law requires a producer to complete two (2) continuing education hours in long term insurance.
  • Effective June 1, 2022, Courses approved under the Title course category will no longer be applied to required CE hours for Maryland license holders who do not hold a Title line of authority.  For those only holding a Title line of authority, all continuing education requirements must be satisfied with courses approved under the Title course category.

Maryland Sales Agents and Associate Brokers are required to complete 15 hours of CE each renewal cycle. All Residential and Commercial Licensees must complete 3 hours in Ethics, 3 hours in Agency, and 3 hours in Legislative.

How many CEU's Continuing Education Units or contact hours are required each time a massage therapist in Maryland Renews His her license or registration?

It is our current understanding that Maryland requires massage therapists to complete 24 CE hours every 2 years for license renewal, of which 1 CE hour must be in diversity or cultural competency, 3 CE hours must be in ethics or jurisprudence AND 3 CE hours must be in communicable diseases (to include HIV/AIDS).
