Okay, I've decided that earbuds are much more suited to my needs than IEM's. However, I don't know what to get; Yuin PK2 or PK3?

They will be driven by an unamped iH320 and will be for portable use. I listen to a wide range of music but mainly metal, punk, rock and some dance music.

What should I get?

[EDIT] I heard that the PK2 is j-cord, if this is correct then that is quite a big problem. I would much prefer a y-cord.

you can buy the pk2 with either a j or y cord at head-direct. They are great earbuds and sound awesome unamped.

It's down to budget really. Though if you prefer a y-cord, the PK2 is available in both j and y styles, whereas the PK3 is only available with a j-cord.

I've owned both, and still have the PK3s. If $30 is important to you, the PK3s are fine. But if you can afford it, get the PK2s. I only use them on occasion, so I decided to sell the PK2s and buy the PK3s. Confused? Anyway, both are great for the money.

One differnce is that unamped the PK3 have more bass......but the PK2 bass is more refined eg Notes soound clearer. If your budget is tight the PK3 is fine. If you can afford them get the PK2.

For your musical tastes are would say go with the PK3 for the extra bass.

I would like to revive this thread and ask the same question. I own a SF5 which I use for all portable use except to school. I would not want it stolen. Therefore, I would like to ask, should I get the pk2 or pk3 for school use and for sleeping in. And on the side note, should I consider the pk1 a upgrade from the SF5? I love the SF5s for its tight bass and clear treble. However, I would like more warmth (ie, mids) and a larger quatity of bass.

PK1s require an amp (at least with my DAP, a Creative Vision M). PK2s do not. And it all comes down to budget on the other two. You get what you pay for, and in both cases, it's well worth it.
