Spotify is making it easier to share your favorite music with your friends and family. The music streaming company is expanding on its efforts to personalize your listening experience with Blend, as part of its Only You feature. Blend allows friends to discover new music together by blending your music together to create a combined playlist, so you can enjoy each other's favorite tracks (and discover new songs!) in one collated playlist. Here's how to use Spotify's Blend feature... What Is Spotify's Blend?Image Credit: SpotifyBecause music forms part of our everyday lives, it's not uncommon to share your favorite music with friends, whether it's playing your friend a song you love or sharing the links to your favorite tracks through a messaging app. Spotify Blend offers you a better way to do that, essentially allowing you and your friends to collate your musical tastes in a single playlist, thereby creating a personalized, blended playlist you can both share. This is a part of Spotify's Only You feature, which helps you discover new trends beyond those you may see in your own personalized playlists. Similar to Wrapped, Only You is an in-app experience with listening statistics and personalized playlists during the year. Some of the personalized insights that Only You provides include the different eras of music you’ve enjoyed, the music or podcasts you tend to listen to, the times you often listen to those tracks and podcasts, as well as your favorite music genres and podcast topics. How Blend on Spotify WorksBlend allows you to invite any other Spotify user, like a friend, to create an automatically generated playlist with you—essentially blending their musical tastes with yours to create a curated playlist featuring songs you both enjoy. Like other playlists on Spotify, Blend is updated daily and will grow with you over time as your listening habits evolve. You can also see how the playlist has been influenced by your friend by tapping on their profile icon next to each track. Related: How to Access Your Personalized Spotify Mixes Blend can be found under Made for Two within the Only You hub. It is available on both Premium and Free accounts on iOS and Android devices. Blend Could Help to Expand Spotify’s UserbaseSpotify continues to press on in its mission to lead the music streaming market when it comes to personalization. The Blend feature is a great tool for Spotify users as it further enhances their in-app experiences. But it could also help Spotify grow its userbase. Because Blend works with free accounts, it could encourage more users to try Spotify so they can create a playlist with the friends who invite them. These users could then go on to create their own own Blend playlists and invite more friends to collaborate with.
