Corel graphics windows shell extension là gì năm 2024

Hi Everybody, .. WARNING !!!!!! DO NOT REMOVE COREL-WINDOWS SHELL EXTENSION !!!!!!! .. The *.cpt thumbnails will disappear from the face of the earth.

I don't understand why or how, but this is what happened. 1. Purchased new 64 bit computer with Win 7. 2. Installed X4, X5, and X6. 3. Uninstalled X6 AND (unfortunately) uninstalled Windows Shell Extension. 4. No more thumbnails for *.cpt files. Just the red icon for all cpt images. 5. Installed X6 again. 6. Still no thumbnails for cpt files in Windows Explorer

.. PANIC

.. Drank a few beers. That cleared my head.

7. Used Windows "Restore" to get back to the good old days VOILA ! 8. Thumbnails now show up. MORAL: Never ever remove a Shell Extension. It seems that the Shell Extension tells Windows how to display cpt files. Most unfortunately, it does not install again when the application is reloaded

Ok this is the third one I've done in the past couple days, I went looking for people who had the issue and found three. Same thing, computer screwed up by the user or the computer technician, did all Windows updates, opened CorelDraw made sure it was signed in and updated. Closed CorelDraw and simply associated the CPT and CDR file formats with the proper program and all was well.

It obvious to me that every one I worked with that had the issue has a screwed up system some how.

• Hi David, What's the big deal. Just three fixes with associate ? ? That's peanuts. It's not sensational news. There have been hundreds of posts in which associate fixed missing thumbnails. Why don't you wait until you pass two hundred before doing any more bragging. MISSING THUMBNAILS ARE A BUG ! ! It has been a bug for about ten years. It doesn't matter if most of them are restored with associate. It's still a bug. Just about nobody reads these posts and even less people would dream of using you as a computer technician. I don't believe that the computers you "fixed" were "screwed up" any more than anybody else's computer. Neither do I believe that all the computer techs that you have met were "idiots". Are you trying to tell us that a computer tech did not know enough to update Windows. How come your magic cures could not fix missing thumbnails for VBGrafx. (Mystic Thumbs restored .cdr thumbnails for him.) Phil PS: How about asking Corel why this problem has persisted for over ten years. It would make more sense than calling everybody around you an idiot.

Lazy people are in all professions, I've had them sell systems with illegal software installed, not do any applications updates The point being that every machine I try and repair the previews on I can and do. People I support don't have this issue, NOT ONE. I do believe that Corel should have made it mandatory to install ghostscript and the shell extensions when you install X7. Phil1923 said:

It obvious to me that every one I worked with that had the issue has a screwed up system some how. I saw exactly the same situation three times in recent weeks. I just open CorelConnect, associate file extensions (right click/open with... ) and problem solved, thumnbails are visible again. Not all tecnician knows how to setup or use CorelDRAW or other programs. They know what they need to use.

I am of the opinion that Corel could deduce or completely remove this issue by forcing the installation of the shell extension during the install process.

Hi, David. I also believe that Corel should look for a better solution. It seems that Windows sometimes doesn't update the Windows Shells automatially, maybe because after install the program is not ready to use, the operating system is waiting that you start the program and log in with your account. This "stop" could be the reason to make the operating system don't enable automatically the file associations. Of course, if it's a programming issue, it should be fixed.
